Summer Beauty Essentials

I know Summer is basically half over for us Canadians and I’m super late on this but today I thought I’d talk about my essential beauty products for Summer. I feel like Nova Scotia has been having a really nice summer. It’s been as humid as always but I love summer so much. Sitting on a patio with good food and drink in my hand is everything to me. 

I really wanted to make this post because beauty products change from season to season. At least for me they change. I change the colours of blush, eyeshadow, bronzers, basically everything I wear in the summer. So I wanted to share with you how I switch it up. 

First let’s talk about bronzers. In the warmer months I love to use liquid bronzers because, in general, I wear less makeup. I’ll sometimes even completely skip foundation, just wear concealer, and some liquid bronzer to give me a bronzed look. This Bare Minerals Serum Bronzer is so nice. It’s a very liquid consistency and amazing to blend. I also gravitate towards more warm toned bronzers in the summer. My natural tanned skin tone is warmed toned so these look the most natural on me. I’m obsessed with this Urban Decay Beached Bronzer. It has such a nice tone. 

A golden highlight for me in the summer is a must! In the fall/winter I more so use a champagne or icey highlight but in the summer I’m all about the gold. Champagne Pop by Becca is a cult favourite for such a good reason. Its a peachy/gold/champagne colour. It gives an amazing glow. It’s by no means a natural highlight but when the sun hits it just right, there is nothing better. 

I also swap out my pink blushes for coral blushes in the summer. Going along that less makeup look I do in the summer I love cream blushes. They add such a natural looking flush. Don’t get me wrong, though, I also love coral powder blushes in the summer too. The one pictured above is from Colourpop and is in the colour Holiday. I also love Nars Orgasm in the summer. 

Sunscreen is non negotiable for me in the summer. I don’t mess around with sun protection. I use a really high SPF on my body in the summer especially when I’m out in the sun. This one from Tommy Bahama by Coola is SPF 50, the scent is Coconut Almond and it’s amazing. 

SPF on my lips is also really important to me. If you’ve ever burnt your lips, you understand. If I’m going to be out in the sun for a long time I’ll use SPF 30 on my lips. This one from Sun Bum in the Coconut scent is my favourite. If I’m going to be wearing makeup but still out in the sun, I’ll wear a tinted lip balm with SPF. I discovered the Revlon Kiss Balms earlier this year and love them. They give the lips a really nice tint and smell so good. Each colour has a different scent. My favourite is the peach scent.
