Winter Nighttime Skincare Routine

  1. I get questions all the time about the skincare products I use, what skincare products are the best, and about my routine. Skincare is so important, people! I don’t think some people understand that your makeup can only look so good if you don’t take care of you skin. You can spend all the money in the world on the best makeup products but, if you don’t take care of your skin, the makeup won’t look it’s best.

Since my skin changes with the seasons, it’s only right that so does my skincare. So, today i’ll be talking all about my winter nighttime skincare routine.

For me, I spend the most time on my skincare at night. Your skin repairs itself at night from all the crap we do to it during the day so I use the most rich and hydrating products at night. Not going to lie, most nights when i’m going to bed I look like an oil slick and I love it.

I’m going to go in the order of how I apply the products. For those of you who don’t know I have Dry Skin.

To remove my makeup lately I have been using the Dermalogica Pre-Cleanse Balm. This removes makeup so nicely and quickly. It also doesn’t strip my skin of it’s natural oils. You rub this into your face dry and it becomes emollient. It has a really pleasant smell, too. Just in case the cleansing balm didn’t get everything, I go over my face again with the Simple Micellar Water. This is my favourite cleansing water because it’s so gentle and gets the job done!

Newest to my skincare team is the Lise Watier La Creme Sublime Yeux. I was recommended this at Shoppers Drug Mart. I have very dry under eyes and this is a very thick, luxurious-feeling cream. It hydrates amazingly but doesn’t feel super heavy. It sinks into the skin quite quickly too.

Most people use a toner on their skin but I’m more of a fan of face mists. They feel more luxurious to me and make me enjoy my skincare routine more. As you can see, I really enjoy the Pixi Glow Mist. It adds a layer of hydration to my skin before I go in with serums and moisturizers.

For a serum I’ve been obsessed with The Ordinary’s Hyaluronic Acid for months. Hyaluronic Acid attracts water to the skin so it is a great hydrator. I love this product so much and would recommend it to anyone!

My night cream for the last couple months has been the Origins Drink-Up Intensive Overnight Mask. It’s such a nice, thick, and moisturizing cream. When I use this, I wake up in the morning and can still feel like hydration on my skin. My skin feels so much smoother when I use this.

If I’m feeling particularly dry, I will mix an oil in with my night cream. I love face oils so much so I have a few. But, my go to has been the Farsali Rose Gold Elixir. This oil contains real 24K gold. It adds that intense hydration that my skin needs sometimes.

I know I’m a little high maintenance with my skincare but I can’t tell you how much my skin changed when I started to take care of it. It was like night and day. Skincare is so so so important! If you’re interested, I can do a post on my daytime skincare routine. It’s a little less intense.
