How to Get The Glow: My Favourite Glowy Products

Spring is officially here in Halifax (it’s 11 degrees today!!) and summer is approaching quickly. That means, it is about time to dig out your most glowy/JLO products to make you glow to the gods. When it comes to products to make your skin glow, I am a bit high maintenance and use a few products to achieve my desired glow.

Today I’ll be talking all about my favourite glowy makeup products to achieve my best JLO self.

When it comes to foundation/concealer/setting powder, I’m not going to mention any specific product. I just don’t mess with anything too mattifying. Not to mention my skin is super dry but I just don’t love the flat matte look on my skin. I go for more of a dewy or natural finish on my skin.

If I want to add extra glow to my foundation, I will add a liquid highlight or luminizer to my foundation. I find when I do this it gives me a really natural, glow from within sort of look. My favourite product to do this with lately is Maybelline Strobing Liquid in Light. It is absolutely gorgeous when mixed in with foundation.

To give you another glow from within sort of look, the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powders are absolutely amazing for this. They have 6 different colours in this powder, I have Dim Light. I’ll use this all over my skin to set my makeup if I want extra glow or on the tops of my cheekbones if I want a more subtle highlight.

For the main event, so to speak. Highlighters can come in many different forms. They can be liquid, loose powder, cream, pressed powder, and so many more. You have to choose ones that will flatter your skin colour and tone. My favourite tones are more champagne tones. I also prefer highlights that give you more of a wet look rather than a sparkle look. There are so many options and so many highlighters that I absolutely love but I decided to narrow it down to only a few.

For a drugstore option, Wet N Wild makes the best drugstore highlights in my opinion. I’m absolutely in love with the Wet N Wild Loose Highlight in I’m So Lit. It’s a very finely milled loose highlight and can be more subtle or blinding as heck. Depending on how much you use and how light your hand is, do you girl.

I had been wanting the Jouer Cosmetics Powder Highlighter in Citrine forever because I had seen it online so much. This is a GLOWY highlight. It gives a wet look but also a glow from within look. It is not glittery at all and it’s a very buttery, creamy highlight. You can choose how much you want depending on the heaviness of your hand or the brush you use.

Lastly, as a glowy finisher, I always use a setting spray. I don’t use a mattifying setting spray, just a setting spray. All of these setting sprays are great if you applied too much powder or if you want a more natural look to your makeup. All of these are absolutely amazing at adding that finishing touch of glow. They all do pretty much the same thing but, in order of my favourites would have to be the cult favourite Mac Cosmetics Fix +, Morphe Continuous Setting Mist, and Wet n Wild Photo Focus Setting Spray. I always always always recommend setting your makeup with a spray. It adds that extra oomph.
