How To Transition Your Makeup from Summer to Fall

I may be wrong (I’m not) but, I think you should change up your makeup style from season to season. I mean, everyone changes up what they wear, what they cook, and activities they do when the seasons change. So why not change up your makeup game. Whether it’s just changing up the colours or changing up the techniques completely, I think it makes a huge impact on your makeup game.

So today I’ll be talking all about how I change up my makeup from Summer to fall to hopefully give you all some ideas.

Starting with the base, I don’t so much change up the foundation type I use, but I do change up the colour. Of course, I have a bit more colour to my skin in the summer and less so in the fall/winter. I choose foundation that are much more fair for this time of year but keep the same hydrating foundation. The same goes for concealer.

As for cheek colour, I use a ton of bronzer in the summer. I’ll use more warm-toned bronzers in the summer and more cool-toned bronzer/contour colours in the fall. Warm-toned bronzers look so orange on me when my skin is extremely fair. So, in the fall I do a lot more contouring and use more neutral bronzers.

I stay completely away from coral and peachy blushes in the fall. I use nudes, mauves, and more cool toned pinks. Nudes go with everything so that is mostly my go to for blush. I usually go for a bolder blush in the fall because I don’t use as much bronzer.

And as for highlights, I just stick to the ones that are light enough for my skin tone. No joke.

I don’t change up my eyeshadow colours a whole lot for the different seasons. But, I do love to do more smokey looks in the fall. It just makes me feel so fall when I have a nice smokey eye. I experiment with colours all year long but, in the fall I’ll experiment with darker colours.

Lips, for me, is always the most important makeup item to change up with the seasons. For summer, it’s all oranges, corals, and bright pinks. For fall, it’s all about dark nudes, browns, mauves, dark reds, and so much more. If I’m going to do a nude lip in the fall, it’s not your typical nude. It will be a mauve or brown nude. A darker than nude, nude.

In the summer, I always feel like I have to do a really pretty eye look because I usually go for nude/coral lips. But, in the fall, I’m totally down for doing absolutely nothing on my eyes, big lashes, and a bold AF lip.
