Dermalogica Precleanse Balm | REVIEW

Having a good way to remove my makeup is an absolute must. When I’m not working, I pretty much always wear a full face of makeup. Not to mention, most of the makeup I wear is long wearing and hard to remove. My favourite long wear product and how I keep my lashes curled is waterproof mascara. So, if I can find a good cleanser to remove all of that, it’s a win for me. I tested out a new a brand new product from Dermalogica and put it to the ultimate test; removing halloween makeup.

Today I’ll be talking all about the new Dermalogica Precleanse Balm.

The Claims: This deep cleansing balm-to-oil deep cleans your skin while removing makeup and impurities. This cleanser is water-activated and removes excess oil from the skin, waterproof makeup, and environmental pollutants.  It has a natural Biolipid Complex to help hydrate and creates a barrier on skin. It also contains Apricot Kernal Oil to nourish the skin. It is best for normal to dry skin, is safe for use around the eyes, and contains no artificial colors or fragrances.

How to use: Squeeze product onto hand or cleansing mitt then apply to dry face. Massage product into skin in circular motions. To activate, add water to the skin and then product will begin to emulsify. Rinse, and follow with your favourite cleanser!

This product comes with a silicone exfoliating mitt which gives the skin a gentle exfoliation while cleansing. This ensures your cleanser with penetrate the skin deeper.

This product is $62 (CAD) and can be purchased on the Dermalogica website here or the Sephora website here

I first used this product to remove my everyday makeup. This includes, long lasting foundation, long lasting concealer, powder, cream eyeshadow, waterproof liquid liner, waterproof mascara, waterproof brow mouse, and liquid lipstick. This cleansing balm did an amazing job at removing all of that makeup. I used the mitt to do this and found it super easy. The mitt made it so I didn’t have to go in with a separate exfoliator because it did a great job at exfoliating.

Next I used it to remove this really fun mermaid halloween makeup look I did. Again, when using this Precleanse balm, it was really easy to remove all of my makeup.  It didn’t leave my skin feeling completely stripped of all hydration. With winter quickly approaching I need products that won’t take dry my skin out and will add to any hydration my skin needs.

Since this is a Precleanse Balm, I then went in with the Dermalogica Special Cleansing gel to cleanse my skin. This routine left my skin feeling really clean but not tight and dry. It removed any speck of makeup the Precleanse Balm left behind (to be honest, there wasn’t much left behind). And no, I’m not naked in any of these pictures.

With these being the first Dermalogica products I tried, I feel like I’ve opened up a whole new world of skincare. I can’t wait to try more out from this brand!

First off, I was so sad to see all that beautiful makeup come off (so gorgeous!), but I’m so shocked with how well it removed everything off so well – not a lick of leftover makeup in sight. I’ve never tried out a pre cleanse balm so I’ll need to look into the Dermalogica one <3
