5 Affordable Makeup Products I Swear By

I think there is a time and a place for high end makeup. Some products are just straight up better quality if they’re high end but, I don’t think every product in your collection needs to be the most expensive. For some products, I reach for drugstore over high end all the time. Today were going to talk about the affordable makeup products I’ll reach for over high end products.

If you want to know the 5 affordable makeup products I absolutely adore, keep on reading!

Lets start with my favourite drugstore concealer of all time. If you’re reading this and you don’t own the Elf Camo Concealer, go buy it right now. I’ll wait. The coverage of this concealer is amazing. The applicator is large and reminds me of the Tarte Shape Tape applicator, but the Elf one is better. It blends into my skin super easily with a beauty sponge, doesn’t look cakey, and doesn’t settle into my lines (if I set it with powder). I haven’t even mentioned the best part. It’s around $8(CAD). No concealer, in my book, can beat this one with price and quality. I own the Hydrating concealer and the original but love them both.

Another product I don’t believe needs to be high end is mascara. I have tried a ton of high end mascaras and they’re fine but I don’t see a need to spend over $10 on a mascara when the Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara does the job and does it well. I use the waterproof version. It is the only mascara that maintains a curl in my lashes. It defines my lashes and adds a nice amount of volume. Whenever this mascara is on sale, I buy multiple so I don’t run out!

To go along with my previous post, I am absolutely obsessed with the Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer. I reach for this bronzer constantly over my high end/luxury bronzers. The Butter Bronzer has such a creamy feeling and it’s so smooth on the skin. It’s an easy formula to blend out. When I first bought this, they only had maybe 3 shades and now they have many more. Because I have quite a bit of makeup, I hardly use anything up and I have used up one of these bronzers.

I haven’t been using a ton of powder lately to set my makeup but I always will set my under eyes. I have under eyes that are very prone to creasing with concealer. The absolute best powder I have found for this is the Covergirl Simply Ageless Pressed Powder. I use the colour translucent. This powder is infused with hyaluronic acid and vitamin C to hydrate and brighten. It is mattifying but I don’t find it drying at all. I tried to actually replace this powder with the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder and didn’t like it nearly as much.

Newer to the scene is the Nyx Shine Loud High Shine Lip Colour. Glossy lips took a bit of a break with all of us wearing masks the last year but summer is bringing them back. You first apply the liquid lipstick, let it dry, then apply the shine on top. It’s non sticky and doesn’t transfer. It’s crazy that a shiny lip product doesn’t transfer. I can eat, drink, talk with this lipstick on and it looks next to perfect. I reach for these lipsticks all the time.
