New Physicians Formula Products – The Butter Range

I was perusing my local Shoppers Drug Mart the other day looking for new makeup products and I found a whole bunch of new Physicians Formula products added to their Butter range. Physicians Formula is one of those brands I don’t think gets the hype it deserves. I don’t know why. Maybe the packaging? Maybe the price?

I decided to grab 3 products from their butter range that I have never tried but caught my attention. If you want to know what I think about them, keep on reading!

If you don’t know, the Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer is completely iconic. The scent is like warm coconut, the formula is, pardon my pun, buttery. When this bronzer first came out, they only had one shade but now, they have 8 shades of the bronzer. I think they are actually coming out with more and I’m so excited. I pretty much always reach for this bronzer over my high end bronzers.

I’m assuming since the butter bronzer is so iconic, they decided to expand the range and come out with more “butter products”. All of these products smell exactly like the butter bronzer.

Firstly, I purchased the Butter Believe It! Foundation + Concealer. Lets start with the price of all of these products. They are steep. The foundation is $22.99 (CAD). I find that pretty expensive for drugstore products. I never pay full price for drugstore products so I did get these on sale but for the 3 products I purchased, it was around $50 (CAD).

The foundation is a foundation + concealer. It has Murumuru Butter, Cupuaçu Butter and Tucuma Butter. Its medium to full coverage, and leaves a radiant finish on the skin. I have mine in the shade light. The shade range is not good. There is only 12 shades. In this day and age, more need to be added.

I’ll never use a foundation where I don’t use a concealer because I like to use a lighter shade under my eyes. The foundation is thicker than I expected, for some reason. I really really like the coverage this foundation gives. It’s comfortable on the skin. I think it has more medium coverage than medium-to-full coverage. It does make my skin look airbrushed. It’s not my favourite foundation of all time but I definitely do like it. It is quite heavily scented as with all of the butter products.

Next to set my makeup I bought the Butter Believe It! Skin Mist. This mist is $17.99 (CAD). Again, a steep price for a drugstore product. This mist is infused with Butter Complex to leave you skin with a radiant finish. It softens and moisturizes the skin.

The sprayer on this mist is super fine. Its the type of mist I love. It, again, is heavily scented and I find this scent does linger. My skin felt moisturized after applying this. I will say that I felt like my makeup stayed in place for a longer amount of time with slightly less creasing. I love setting mists and will continue to use this one.

Lastly, although not totally new to the line, new to me is the Murumuru Butter Highlighter in the colour pearl. It is a cream-to-powder formula and has a bouncy texture. It reminds me a lot of the Colourpop Cosmetics super shock highlighter. It is $17.99 (CAD).

I’m not crazy about this highlighter. I tried applying it with a brush and with a sponge and it applied so much better with a sponge. With a brush, it completely broke apart my foundation underneath but melted into my skin with a sponge. The colour looked really nicely on my skin. It is not a subtle highlight so go elsewhere if you’re wanting that.

I’ll end this one with a bit of positivity. I cannot say enough good things about the Butter Bronzer and Butter blush. Both formulas are amazing and I reach for these constantly over my high end products.
