Ardell Water-Activated Aqua Lashes

Ardell recently released the worlds first water-activated strip eyelashes. False eyelashes are something that I actually get a lot of questions about. What lashes work best? What lashes are the best for your eye shape? How do I apply false eyelashes? Is there anything that can make the application of false eyelashes easier? Well, I’m hoping these Water Activated Lashes help with a lot of those concerns.

I was walking by an Ardell display and literally stopped in my tracks and grabbed a pair.

Let’s start with the basics of false eyelashes. Normal false eyelashes you apply glue to the lash band, wait for the glue to get tacky, apply them to your eyes, and pray you don’t mess it up and get glue everywhere.

The Ardell Aqua Lashes are patent-pending Water-Activated false eyelashes that require no glue. This completely blew my mind when I read that. In my head, these would be so much easier to apply than normal false eyelashes. These lashes have an adhesive on the lash band that is activated by water.

These lashes were kind of expensive. I think I got them on sale but the are regularly priced for $9.99 (CAD).

I picked up style 344 which is described as medium volume, short length, and a rounded shape for a pretty eye-brightening effect. Lashes in this shape are my jam. I love looking like I have super round eyes. I’m normally tired (nursing life, for the win) and these make me look much less tired.

I did have to trim these quite a bit. They came with an extra maybe 1/8 inch extra band on each end so I did trim that off and a little bit more on the outer edge to make them look better on my eyes. I did exactly as the instruction said – put the band under warm water for 15 seconds, then applied to my eyes. As with regular false lashes, I let the band get a bit tacky before I applied to my eyes.

These lashes applied ok. They definitely weren’t horrible but they weren’t amazing. I didn’t find them stuck to my eyes very well. I could tell I have false lashes on but I don’t know if anyone else could. I also had a hard time with not having the lashes all wear from dipping the band into warm water so they were a bit wet when I applied them to my eyes. They do have the beautiful feel of the better quality Ardell lashes. They removed no problem for me with micellar water.

This is such a cool idea though. It is easier than your regular false lash that you need the lash and glue for. I would probably try these again.
