Fall Beauty Essentials

I don’t know about where you guys live but in Nova Scotia it is getting a bit chilly and I love it. It’s still hot in the middle of the day but in the morning and the evening there is such a nice crisp to the air. I change up a lot of my beauty items when the seasons change. For fall, I tend to go darker on my lips, nails, and eyes. I also switch up my fragrances (on me and where I live). So, to honour the amazingness that is fall I thought today I would talk about some of my fall beauty essentials.

Fall is not complete to me without Leaves candles from Bath and Body Works. On the Bath and Body works website the notes in this candle are Crisp Red Apple, Golden Nectar, and Warm Clove Spice. This candle to me smells like spicy apples. That may sound a bit weird but trust me, it’s amazing. I have to have this candle on hand. Let me know if you want to see my top Bath and Body Works fall candles!

In the summer I wear more fruity, sweet scents for perfume. But in the fall I like to switch it up and go for more complex scents. My favourite perfume for fall and winter is Jo Malone Peony and Blush Suede. This perfume has notes of red apple, peony, and suede. This perfume is very floral but in a sexy sort of way. I think it’s because it has notes of suede in there too. If you haven’t gone to a Jo Malone counter and smelled some of their perfumes, do it!! They are sold at Holt Renfrew.

I also like to use a really moisturizing night cream in the fall and winter. My skin is pretty normal in the summer but gets dryer in the fall/winter. When the temperature changes so drastically I need a tried and true.  My go to is Origins Night A Mins. It has a really nice orangey citrus scent and is a really thick, rich cream. I put it on at night and when I wake up my skin feels plump and looks refreshed. It’s very hydrating and probably best for normal to dry skin.

I love wearing dark nail polish and these two are my favourites for the upcoming fall season. Revlon Vixen is a dark red oxblood colour and looks so good on the nails. It gives that vampy edge but in a wearable way. It’s the type of colour that looks almost black if you’re not close enough to see it. OPI Ski Teal We Drop is a darkened teal. It is a great transition from summer to fall shade because it still has some colour to it but on the darker side of things. It’s what is on my nails above!

Going shimmery on the eyes is one of my favourite eye looks to wear in the fall. Don’t get me wrong I still love a matte look but there’s something about doing a shimmery lid and a dark crease. My favourite drugstore shimmer eyeshadows are the L’oreal Infallible Eyeshadows in Goldmine and Amber Rush. I love pairing Goldmine with a red lip around the holidays especially. Amber Rush is this gorgeous copper shade that looks amazing with a warm toned smokey eye. This colour would look amazing on blue eyes.

I think everyone can agree that it’s just not a fall beauty must haves without dark lips. You can wear the simplest of makeup looks, throw on a dark lip, and bam, you’re basically walking autumn. From left to right is Nyx Soft Matte Lip Cream in Transylvania, MAC Lipstick in Diva, and Bite Beauty Matte Creme Lip Crayon in Aubergine. These are all gorgeous rich looking colours and are very fall to me.
