August Beauty Favourites

Sorry to all of you summer lovers but as soon as one leaf turns brown I’m lighting Bath and Body Works fall candles, sitting in my slippers, and drinking a pumpkin spice latte. So, I’m super excited to be doing my August favourites. It means, the end of sweating doing nothing. It means the beginning of crisp fall weather, pants, and dark lips.

Today I’ll be talking about my most loved beauty products from this past month.

I rediscovered the Hourglass Ambient Lighting powder this past month. I found on a day to day basis, using a loose powder was a little bit heavy on my skin. I have this in the colour Dim Light. So, I pulled this out and used it to set my face makeup. I’ll use a brightening powder under my eyes and then this on my whole face and it gives my face such a gorgeous glow. It doesn’t look like I put any powder on at all. It looks like just my skin but perfected and radiant. If I want to have a nice, light, natural makeup day I’ll use the powder all over my face and then use a more precise brush on the tops of my cheekbones and it looks stunning.

I couldn’t not include the OG Naked Palette. My sister bought me this palette when I first started getting into makeup and this was my very first makeup palette. When Urban Decay announced they were discontinuing this palette I got a little hurt. I immediately pulled this palette out and started using it for straight us nostalgic purposes. Its a perfect summer palette. I can create a perfect warm or cool toned look with this palette and it will forever be on of my favourites.

I love using lip products with SPF in the them. Burning your lips is not joke and I hope to never do it again. The Revlon Kiss Balms in Strawberry and Peach have been my go to’s for if I want colour on my lips with SPF. They have SPF 20. They give a really nice wash of colour and they look really natural on the lips.

I’ve been looking forever for some nice, nude liquid lipsticks. Then I remembered I absolutely love the Maybelline Matte Ink Liquid Lipsticks. So, I went to Shoppers, had a glance around the Maybelline section and picked up the colours Dreamer and Poet. Dreamer is a gorgeous cool-toned nudey pink and looks absolutely amazing with a bit of a tan. The colour Poet is a warm-toned peachy, brown nude that is also stunning. I love both of these and haven’t stopped wearing them when I want a nude lip.

My favourite brow product from the last few months has been the Makeup Revolution Brown Pomade in Dark Brown. This is the darkest brow pomade I have and I have been loving the look of dark brows on myself lately. Maybe it’s because I have the littlest bit of sun on my skin. The pomade formula is also great. It’s waxy enough that you can create really nice lines but not so waxy that it’s hard to apply.

I have been wanting to try a stick foundation for a while now but couldn’t choose between all of them. The Makeup Revolution Fast Base Stick Foundation is super creamy and gives a natural finish. It’s really easy to apply and blend out. I use my makeup sponge for this and it makes my skin look naturally perfect. It’s not the most long wearing foundation but if I know I’ll only need to wear foundation for about 6 hours, this foundation is perfect.
