Jeffree Star Cosmetics x Shane Dawson Palette

I’ll be the first to admit I’m not a massive Jeffree Star or Shane Dawson fan. Nothing personal against either of them. They’re just not my jam. But, I did really enjoy watching their series. The beauty industry is so interesting and to see a company making and manufacturing an eyeshadow palette from an idea to a finished product was so exciting to watch.

After watching the series, I had to get my hands on the palette. I had never tried anything from Jeffree Star Cosmetics, even though I’ve only heard amazing thing. I don’t own anything that looks like this palette so it was the perfect excuse!

If you’re not familiar, Jeffree Star and Shane Dawson are both YouTubers. Jeffree Star has a beauty channel and owns his own cosmetic company. Shane Dawson has a lifestyle/humor (?) channel. They collaborated and made a series on YouTube documenting the making of the Conspiracy Eyeshadow Palette along with a whole collection. It’s a really interesting series and I highly recommend you watch it!

Lets start off with the packaging. They really hit the nail on the head with this one. It’s so unique and packs a punch. It’s matte black with a hypnotic swirl around it. It also is 3D and peaks at the top like a pyramid. The clasps are metal so the palette will never fly open if it’s clasped.

The Conspiracy Eyeshadow Palette comes with 18 different shades. There are 3 different formulas in the palette; matte, metallic, and foil. It has a nice mix of neutral colours, somewhat neutrals, and bright colours.

All of the shades were handpicked and named by Shane Dawson. What really stuck out to me in this palette is it’s an all year round type of palette. You can do so much with this palette and so many different looks.

As I’m sure you can tell the top row is my favourite and the most wearable. It’s all neutral colours and you could create a beautiful neutral look with this.

The middle row is a bit bananas but super fun. All of this colours are so fun to add a pop of colour if you need, do a fun halloween look, or do a bright look just because you feel like it. It is such a fun row.

The third row is a lot of what I like to call “somewhat neutrals”. They’re not super bright but are a colour. Many smokey eyes could be made from this bottom row. The bottom row screams fall/winter to me and I love it.

The formula of all of these eyeshadows are so buttery and soft. The more colourful mattes are a bit on the dry side but applied so nicely on the eyes. The shades “Food Videos” and “Where’s The Tea” were the most dry when I dipped my fingers in them but are actually so nice. You might need to apply a little more of these but it’s worth it.

All of the metallics and foils are absolutely incredible. They swatched like nothing and applied to the eyes so nice. My favourite metallic is the shade “Trisha”. It’s so intense and so buttery. “Sleep Paralysis” is also such a nice shade. It’s a metallic taupe that is so perfect for the fall/winter.

I created two different looks with this palette. Keep in mind, I’m not a makeup artist. For the first look, I used the entire top row and created a gorgeous neutral look. I could totally see this as someones wedding makeup. For the second look, I used most of the middle row with a splash of “Diet Cola”. All of the pinks were amazing to apply and blended like a dream. These types of colours definitely stain the skin, though.

This palette is $52 USD and I think it is totally worth it. The eyeshadows are amazing quality and I can actually see myself reaching for this a lot. Maybe not for an entire look but for super blendable eyeshadows. Overall, love this palette. Can’t get enough!

Let me know if you picked anything up from this collection!
